LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT |

Happy Holidays! I can’t believe it’s been nearly a month since our Annual Celebration and Award Ceremony. What a wonderful evening as we celebrated our members, finalists, and recipients in our 5th giving year! It was a truly powerful reminder of the reason we have chosen to be part of Impact100 SRQ, making a difference in our local community. December ushers in the holiday season, recognized in many different ways by each of us. While our traditions may differ, there are common themes: gratitude, generosity, the gift of light and laughter, thoughtful reflection, and the hope of health, happiness, and peace for all. This is my sincere wish for all of you. As always, thank you for your continued support of our mission. I look forward to seeing you soon, as we build our membership for the upcoming 2024 giving year. |

- Pam Kandziora, President Impact100 SRQ |

A few words of Thanks
Working together for several months on Focus Area Committees, 20-50 members thoughtfully weighed each application against our Impact100 SRQ 5 Key Questions and then objectively and respectfully offered their key observations to their fellow FAC members. Many of them teamed up in groups of 4-6 and visited the most qualified applicants to see first-hand the high-impact initiative that the nonprofit was envisioning and communicate their impressions to the entire FAC.
To all our faithful Focus Area Committee member volunteers, we offer our heartfelt thanks. Our model simply would not function without you. Your diverse backgrounds, your commitment, and most importantly, your willingness to work collaboratively toward the goal of making the best possible decisions are what ensures our success. We are especially grateful to those who coordinated or led site visits, thoroughly reviewed and reported on financials, helped out in FAC meetings, or served on site visit teams. It’s often said (and very true), that many hands do make light work!
We’ve already begun polishing up the grant review process for next year to make it even stronger and more streamlined. We hope you will consider joining us for another successful giving year in 2024! |

IMPACT100 SRQ Helps SPARCC Domestic violence victims and survivors live under the control of their partners. Decisions as simple as what to eat, where they go, and to whom they can call are taken away from them. So, imagine being able to choose your future home, and your career path, and learning to drive for the very first time! SPARCC’s Housing Stability Program, one of the six 2022 Impact100 SRQ life-changing grants, is doing just that for its clients.
Safe Place and Rape Crisis Center, known locally as SPARCC, helped 13 survivors with 21 children obtain and maintain safe housing. “The impact of this initiative is indispensable for survivors and their children. Thanks to the generosity of the Impact100 SRQ, the survivors were provided the opportunity to improve their circumstances and celebrate their successes with our advocates,” said Christian Hind, Director of Domestic Violence Services.
In addition to obtaining safe and secure housing, survivors have purchased reliable vehicles, gone back to school for continuing education in fields like nursing and real estate, obtained new employment, and received promotions giving them greater income thus pulling themselves out of debt to improve their financial stability. IMPACT100 SRQ Helps the Sarasota Orchestra
Impact100 SRQ is assisting with the purchase of much-needed musical instruments for students of the Sarasota Orchestra, as well as helping repair and refurbish the existing instrument inventory. Sarasota Orchestra loans instruments and equipment to students whose families cannot afford one, removing a financial barrier that could deter them from participating. With our grant funding in 2022, the Sarasota Orchestra has been able to add more than 50 new instruments this year alone.
Sarasota Orchestra is home to an acclaimed music education program that includes the Sarasota Youth Orchestra established in 1959, and currently supports eight student ensembles as well as the annual Summer Music Camp. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn more about the Sarasota Youth Orchestra and

IMPACT100 SRQ Helps the Booker Promise Foundation
Seventy-two percent of the Booker High School student body is economically disadvantaged, living at or below the poverty level. "The Booker Promise Scholarship Program combines financial assistance and our comprehensive student success program", says Earl Young, President/CEO of the Booker Promise Foundation. The program provides tools and comprehensive mentoring services to help students on their transformational journey to reach their fullest academic and personal potential. Students are motivated to graduate high school and pursue post-secondary education that may otherwise be unattainable.
With the Impact100 SRQ grant and matching funds secured by Booker Promise in 2022, 31 additional students entered the program last spring, are being provided with essential skills and resources, and will be well prepared to start post-secondary study in the fall. "These resources are pivotal to go from dreaming of a better future to making their aspirations a reality", says Dr. Rachel Shelley, Principal, Booker High School.
The Booker Promise Scholarship Program has made Booker High School one of the only schools in our nation to offer a promising future through higher education. This investment in our community has a broad-reaching impact, potentially ending generational poverty, providing a pathway to higher wages and better health, as well as serves as a buffering against unemployment, incarceration, and homelessness. Thank You, Your Membership in Impact100SRQ is making a difference! |
