“The child who is not embraced by the village will burn it down to feel its warmth.”

Public Defender Larry Eger shared this powerful proverb as he spoke about the very outcomes that Legal Aid of Manasota works tirelessly to prevent—thanks in part to the initiative funded by our Impact100 SRQ grant.

Through our support, Legal Aid was able to hire an additional attorney for 18 months—dramatically increasing their capacity to serve local youth in foster care. That one attorney will help at least 50 vulnerable children navigate the complexities of Florida’s civil court system and move toward a brighter, more stable future.

Juvenile Court Judge Andrea McHugh reminded us that Florida does not require legal representation in civil matters, leaving many children in incredibly difficult situations without support. The gap is staggering—and the consequences are real, for the child and for the entire community.

We also had the privilege of hearing from Janella (known as “the legend”) and Te’ya (a “legend in the making,” funded by our grant). These passionate advocates shared heartbreaking and inspiring stories about the children they work with—kids facing trauma from mental health struggles, human trafficking, developmental delays, addiction, and homelessness. Many of them have valid and deeply rooted trust issues.

Janella and Te’ya meet each child where they are—often literally—in a space the child feels safe. They work patiently to earn their trust, connect them with vital services, and help reintegrate them into the community. Their work is nothing short of life-changing. Thanks to your generosity, Impact100 SRQ helped double Legal Aid’s ability to serve these children—giving more young lives a chance at healing and hope.

Want to do more?
Legal Aid of Manasota welcomes donations to help meet kids in safe, welcoming spaces. Gift cards to local chain restaurants (where a child might feel comfortable meeting with Janella or Te’ya) or gift cards for retail stores (used to provide essentials like food, clothing, and hygiene items) go a long way in restoring dignity.

Drop off donations to:

Thank you for being part of the village!

Expanding our Reach in Lakewood Ranch!

The Good news is…

Impact100 SRQ recently became a member of the Lakewood Ranch Business Alliance.
The Great News is…

this was brought to us through the generous sponsorship of one of our Impact100 SRQ members.

We are excited to become an official part of this local organization that fosters connections between businesses and local groups here in Sarasota and Manatee counties.  This will give access to events, organizations and people to create greater awareness of Impact100 SRQ and its mission.  Through this, we hope to expose Impact100 SRQ to additional non-profits and encourage them apply for a Grant – and it may also help us recruit new members. Looking forward to seeing what new connections this opens up.

Announcement -- Impact100 SRQ will be at the Laurel Oak Non Profit Expo

Last year Impact100 SRQ participated in a nonprofit expo at Laurel Oak Country Club.  We were asked to join it once again for 2025 and we gladly accepted.

When:  Sept 25, 2025  4 - 6 PM
Where:  Laurel Oak Country Club

This is a special shout out to all members that live in Laurel Oak.  This is a great opportunity to help us connect to more of your neighbors.  Please let us know if you can help with representing Impact100 at this event.  We will have a representative from the Board of Directors there, but also need a Laurel Oak member to be part of the group that "works" this event. Contact LauraF@impact100SRQ.org if interested. Thank you for supporting Impact100 SRQ to the community of Laurel Oak.  We recognize that we have many members already from Laurel Oak, but this is a great chance to further spread awareness and reach.  Looking forward to being part of this event once again!

Do you know what a HUGE impact an extra $100 can make?

Because every dollar of your $1000 membership contribution ultimately funds a grant to our nonprofit recipients, we are always looking for ways to run our organization throughout the year.  We are responsible for administrative costs such as Quickbooks, Zoom, insurance, postage and our Submittable Grant Application Software.  Do you know it’s this software that we use to manage all our nonprofit grant application submissions? It also allows for the efficient grant review process for our members who volunteer to serve on a Focus Area Committee (FAC) and we are charged for each user.  The license for this software costs $3500 annually, so every contribution helps!

If you are interested in becoming a 110% member, it’s easy to add that $100.  Use this link :

Impact100 SRQ loves a Coffee Chat!

Picture this: A cozy morning with good coffee, great conversation, and even better company—all while sharing the heart of Impact100 SRQ. Coffee Chats are small, feel-good gatherings (think 15–30 people) that bring together members, friends, and curious newcomers for connection, inspiration, and a little caffeine-fueled magic.

But the opportunities to connect don’t stop there. Members can also host casual get-togethers at local restaurants, wine bars, or community spaces—offering a relaxed setting to mingle, share stories, and spark meaningful conversations about the power of collective giving. Whether it’s brunch at a favorite café, a happy hour at a neighborhood hotspot, or a small evening event in your own backyard, these gatherings are a fun and personal way to invite others into the Impact100 SRQ community.

Hosting is super simple—you pick the spot, invite a few folks, and we’ll help with the rest. We’ve got materials, talking points, and a friendly face to help guide the conversation.

It’s a chance to share what makes Impact100 SRQ so powerful—women coming together to create real change in our community, one conversation at a time.  You’ll leave energized, inspired, and maybe with a few new friends, too. Guests are always welcome! So go ahead—be the reason someone gets involved, gets inspired, and gets their morning off to a meaningful start. Let’s chat!
