Happy Fall!
Although we may not experience the same change of seasons that some areas of the country do, activities in our chapter change as our membership year moves forward. Our Focus Area Committees are completing their grant review process and site visits, nearing selection of nonprofit grant applicant finalists for 2023.
We are busy preparing for the “Meet the Finalists” media event which will be held on October 17th, where we will announce our 10 finalists (2 from each FAC), and planning is well underway for the “Annual Celebration and Award Ceremony” taking place on Wednesday evening, November 8th at the Sarasota Municipal Auditorium. The event this year marks our 5th Giving Year, and I hope to see all of you there when we will hear presentations from our finalists, cast our vote, award seven $109,000 grants, and celebrate together! Please put this date on your calendar and join in the culmination of our rewarding and transformational work. Keep your eyes on our website, emails, and our social media platform for more details.
Your feedback and volunteerism are both vital to empowering our chapter to thrive. To that end, stay tuned for a few changes that will be announced soon that are designed to enable even greater participation of our members in our mission.
As we prepare to celebrate our finalists and kick off our membership recruiting season, it is never too early to renew for 2024! While I know many of you make it a tradition to renew at the Annual Celebration, our website is always open for new members and renewals. We are also happy to process new memberships and renewals at any of our upcoming events.
Just a reminder that if you know of an individual or business, perhaps your employer or a business you patronize, that would be willing to support Impact100 SRQ’s work, there is no donation sponsorship that is too small. We would be pleased to add these supporters to our list that will be shared at our events and on our website. Please contact communityengagement@impact100srq.org with questions or recommendations.

We are grateful to those members who dedicated their efforts these past few months to volunteer on a Focus Area Committee in service of the heart and soul of our mission. During this time, they reviewed a myriad of grant applications, attended site visits to learn even more about each high-impact initiative, and very soon they will collectively decide which 2 nonprofits from each of our 5 focus areas will be presented to our full membership as one of 10 finalists for potential funding.
On Tuesday, October 17th, Impact100 SRQ will announce these 10 finalists at our
annual Meet the Finalists Media Event. Shortly following the announcement, we will provide a link to members so that they can view the event. These 10 finalists will be presented to our full membership at the 5th Annual Celebration & Awards Ceremony
on Wednesday, November 8th when they will be able cast their vote to help select our 7 grant recipients for 2023. |

IMPACT100 SRQ Helps HOPE Family Services Help Children
Impact100 SRQ funds transformational grants to make a lasting difference in our community. “What is more transformational than pooling our resources to help children who have been traumatized by witnessing violence between their parents?” said Char Young of HOPE Family Services (HOPE). “I am in the unique position to not only be a proud Impact100 SRQ member but I am also the CEO of HOPE, Manatee County’s only State-certified domestic violence center.” As one of Florida’s 40 state-certified centers, HOPE passes a series of rigorous standards including annual inspections and annual audits by an outside CPA. HOPE consistently receives high marks with “unmodified/unqualified’ reports.
Thanks to Manatee County, HOPE has Master`s level counselors (two of whom speak Spanish) offering high quality children’s counseling services. What HOPE didn’t have was a kid-friendly safe space for the youngest victims to help them work through their trauma while learning new skills to solve problems without violence. Thanks to you, our generous Impact100SRQ members, a need was met for these young domestic violence victims. Thanks to you, HOPE’s program now includes a Children’s Counseling Center where children will receive trauma-informed care in a safe and supportive environment. Thanks to you, we are changing the trajectory of so many little lives. Please join us to see your donation at work. |

IMPACT100 SRQ Helps Senior Friendship Centers
- Help Our Seniors This year marks 50 years since Brother William Geneen, the founder of Senior Friendship Center, realized social isolation significantly increases a person’s risk of premature death. Of the 42,000 seniors in Sarasota County, 15,000 are homebound, unable to drive, or lack a support system, making it difficult for them to fill even their most basic needs, which adds to stress in their lives.
“When we can remove even one stressor, we are increasing overall wellness and wellbeing, “said Erin McLeod, President & CEO of Senior Friendship Centers. “The Impact100 SRQ grant is helping us support over 1,000 additional seniors improving their physical, mental, and emotional health.”
The initiative funded by Impact100 SRQ at the Senior Friendship Center ensures a dedicated staff member is available to help additional seniors each year.
Thanks to Impact100 SRQ, The FriendWorks Program can address urgent needs like hunger, threat of eviction, loss of utilities, isolation, and loneliness. These critical needs are rapidly increasing, and additional resources are required to meet them.
Please join us to see your donation at work. |

"When I joined Impact100 SRQ, I knew I wanted to be active in the organization but wasn’t sure where my talents would be best utilized. My ambassador, Laura Horner, enthusiastically guided me through how this organization operates and introduced me to so many great people. Laura helped me navigate the website and app, which was important in knowing when member events would be held. I can honestly say this past year on the Marketing Committee has been very rewarding and I thank Laura for her guidance."
Member, Cheryl Mundy
"The ambassador program has enabled me to make greater contributions to the organization while cultivating new members. It is exciting to acclimate and guide their initial involvement with such an amazing group of women, banding together to make our community an even better place to live. This was my third year as a member of Impact100, and my first year as an ambassador. This experience brought great fulfillment to me and I look to the 2024 giving year with great anticipation and excitement."
